Electrocardiogram
Electrocardiography (ECG) is a simple and painless test that records the electrical activity of the heart. To ensure accurate and easily interpretable results, it is important to follow a few recommendations before the procedure.
Recommendations before ECG
- Avoid consuming coffee, black tea, or energy drinks in the hours before the test, as they may affect heart rhythm.
- Try to be well-rested and relaxed; stress or intense physical activity immediately before the test can influence the results.
- Fasting is not required — you may eat normally.
- Wear comfortable clothing that can be easily lifted to allow electrode placement on the chest.
- Avoid applying creams or oils to the chest on the day of the examination, as they may interfere with proper electrode adhesion.
What happens during the ECG
- Electrodes will be placed on your chest, arms, and legs.
- You will lie down calmly and relaxed on the examination table for a few minutes.
- The device will record the heart’s activity as a graphical line (ECG tracing).
The procedure takes about 5–10 minutes, is painless, and involves no risks.
