Эхокардиография
Echocardiography is an imaging method that uses ultrasound to visualize the structure and function of the heart. It is a safe, non-invasive procedure without radiation exposure. In most cases, no special preparation is required, but a few recommendations are helpful.
Recommendations before echocardiography
- You may eat and drink normally — fasting is not required.
- Continue taking your prescribed medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.
- Wear comfortable clothing; during the examination, you will be asked to uncover the upper chest area.
- Avoid applying creams or lotions to the chest on the day of the examination, as they may interfere with proper contact of the ultrasound probe with the skin.
What happens during the examination
- You will lie on your left side on the examination table.
- The doctor will apply gel to the chest and move the ultrasound probe to obtain images from different angles.
- Dynamic images of the heart will be displayed on the screen, and the necessary parameters will be recorded.
The examination usually lasts 20–30 minutes and generally causes no significant discomfort.
